On October 27-28, 2012, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, a two-day pilgrimage to Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY, will take place. The event is scheduled to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the death in Athens of Jose Munoz-Cortes (+31 October 1997), and the 30th anniversary of the date the “Montreal” Iveron Icon of the Mother of God began to stream myrrh (November 24, 1982). It is also the 5th anniversary of the time when the “Hawaiian” Icon of the Most-Holy Mother of God began to stream myrrh (October 6, 2007).
The pilgrimage will be led by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, and His Eminence Archbishop Justinian, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA. The Myrrh-streaming “Hawaiian” Icon of the Most-Holy Mother of God will join the pilgrimage on the first day.
On Saturday, October 27, a solemn pannikhida will be performed at the gravesite of Brother Jose, the keeper of the “Montreal” Icon, in the Monastery Cemetery at 3:30 pm. The pilgrims will share dinner at the monastery’s refectory at 6 pm. At seven o’clock, a hierarchal all-night vigil will be performed in the presence of the “Hawaiian” Icon.
On Sunday, October 28, at 9:30 am, Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in Holy Trinity Cathedral, headed by the Primate of the Russian Church Abroad in the presence of the “Hawaiian” Iveron Icon of the Mother of God. After trapeza at 1:30, an exhibition of photographs and personal items of Brother Jose will open in the hall of Holy Trinity Seminary, along with a short seminar devoted to the “Montreal” Icon’s keeper. At 3:30, a farewell pannikhida will be performed over Jose’s gravesite.
